Eligibility

Age determination date is June 21, 2013.

Proof of age is required. Birth certificate, AHSAA eligibility list, Military I.D. and/or driver's license are acceptable proof-of-age documents. Do not mail or hand-deliver any proof-of-age documents to the ASF Foundation. The coach/participant should have proof-of-age documents on hand at the event site. In case of eligibility disputes, lack of proper documentation will result in disqualification of individual participants and/or team.

Who can compete?

A participant must be a resident of the State of Alabama for at least 30 days prior to the day of competition they wish to enter. In addition, out-of-state full-time students who are enrolled in an Alabama college or university are eligible, as are U.S. military personnel and their family members who are stationed in Alabama.

Athletes residing in a state adjacent to Alabama who belong to a club based in Alabama and regularly train/compete in Alabama are eligible. Plus, participants in designated individual sports may be eligible to compete.

The ASF Foundation reserves the right to restrict individuals and/or teams from competing in the Games for the best interest of the event.

Children ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all venue sites. Eye and ear protection are required for all events. Competitors must be at the venue at least 30 minutes prior to relay start time to complete registration and bring equipment to the firing line.

A .22, Air Rifle and BB Gun sight-in (practice) will be available at MCGC on both Friday and Saturday. Maximum practice range is 50 yards. Practice will not be available at the Air Rifle venue location. Team competition available where noted. Team consists of four shooters regardless of gender. Please do not submit team registration to the ASF Foundation. Team sign-ups will be available day of the event during onsite registration. Team results will be determined based on the combined score of the individual team members' score.

Rifle

Three position Air Rifle (3 X 20) - CMP sanctioned event. This event will follow National Council rules. Individual and team competition available. 60 shots total, 20 shots fired in 3 positions (prone, standing, and kneeling) at 10 meters (33 feet) on the AR-5/10 target. All shots fired in block time, 110 minutes from the start command. Entries must designate Precision or Sporter. Competitors must furnish their own equipment. Sporter loaner rifles will be available at the venue on a limited basis.

Three Position .22 - Event will follow all USA Shooting rules. Individual and team competition available. 60 shots total, 20 shots fired in 3 positions (prone, standing, and kneeling) at 50 yards on the A51 target. All shots fired in block time, 110 minutes from the start command. .22 rimfire rifle with iron sights (No Scopes).

10 M Air Rifle Standing (40 shots) - Event will follow all USA Shooting rules. Individual and team competition available. 40 shots total fired from the standing position at 10 meters (33 feet) on the AR-5/10 target. All shots fired in block time, 90 minutes from the start command. Entries must designate Precision or Sporter. Competitors must furnish their own equipment. Sporter loaner rifles will be available at the venue on a limited basis.

.22 Rifle "Fun" Silhouette (4 distances) - The event will follow all NRA safety rules. The targets will be a larger target - pistol sized. 40 shots total, 10 shots fired at 4 different distances. Each bank of targets are shot in 2 - 5 shot strings. Time allowed is 2 minutes per 5 shot string. Competitors reset targets after each 10 shots. There is no weight limit on the .22 rifle used. Rifles may be scoped or un-scoped. Scoped rifles are allowed 5 shots per bank, iron sighted (un-scoped) rifles are allowed 6 shots per bank.

Rimfire Sporter (60 shots) - CMP sanctioned event. This event will follow all CMP Rimfire Sporter rules. 60 shots total, 10 shots slow fire and 10 shots rapid fire in each of 3 positions (prone, standing and either kneeling or sitting). Any sporter type .22 rifle weighting 7.5 lbs or less, including sights. Match takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. Each position shoots 10 shots in 10 minutes (slow fire) and then 2-5 shot strings in 30 seconds each (rapid fire). There is a 10 minute sighting relay before firing for record.

BB Gun (4 Position Match)- Event will follow all NRA rules. Individual and team competition available. 40 shots total, 10 shots fired in 4 positions (prone, standing, sitting, and kneeling) at 5 meters (16.5 feet) on the AR-4/10 target. All shots fired in block time, 50 minutes from the start command. Only Daisy 499 single shot BB Guns will be allowed. Competitors should furnish their own equipment. Loaner Daisy 499 BB Guns will be available at the venue on a limited basis.

Pistol

.22 Pistol Silhouette- The event will follow all NRA safety rules. 40 shots total, 10 shots fired at 4 different distances. Each target is shot in 2 - 5 shot strings. Time allowed is 2 minutes per 5 shot string. Competitors reset targets after each 10 shots. Any .22 pistol, scopes are allowed.

International Centerfire Match - Competitors in this event will shoot 60 rounds total. The first stage consists of 10 shots of slow fire (2 strings of 5 shots; 5 minutes per string). Second stage consists of 10 shots of sustained fire (2 strings of 5 shots; 20 seconds per string). Third stage consists of 10 shots of rapid fire (2 strings of 5 shots; 10 seconds per string). First three stages will shoot the American Standard Pistol Target at 25 yards. The last stage is 30 shots (strings of 5) with 3 seconds per shot on the B27 Silhouette target. Scoring for all stages is after 10 shots. Any .32 caliber or larger firearm allowed. A junior division (16 & under) will be offered (.22 caliber only).

Steel Challenge - NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR REGISTRATION - Two Guns Only For This Shoot - Steel Challenge scoring is simple: your time is your score. There are five targets, commonly referred to as plates. Four are primary plates, and the fifth is designated as the stop plate. Each of the primary targets must be hit at least once during each string of fire, followed by the stop plate, which must be hit last to stop the time. Competitors may fire as many rounds as they deem necessary for each string of fire. The best four out of five strings will be counted as the total score for each stage, except for Outer Limits, which will be the best three out of four runs. Total score for all stages will determine the order of finish for final standings. 22 Rimfire rifle also allowed for steel challenge.

Man on Man Steel Plate Match - The match will consist of two parts: 1) a qualification round for placement on the match bracket and 2) a single elimination shoot off. A bout will consist of the best 2 of 3 runs. The targets will be 6 inch falling steel plates and a cross over popper engaged at a minimum distance of 10 meters. Firearms allowed are any centerfire handgun 9mm or larger in caliber with a minimum bullet weight of 115 grams and a minimum power factor (bullet weight X velocity/1000) of 125. Bowling Pin Centerfire - In this event, bowling pins are set on a table and participant will use as many shots as necessary to knock all bowling pins off table. Shooter with the quickest time is determined the winner. Shooters will be divided into categories based on gun type. Modified and non-modified revolvers and semi-autos compete separately.

Shotgun

Skeet & Trap - Shotguns must be able to fire at least two shells. Only 7 1/2 shot or smaller allowed. Youth and adults will each shoot 50 traps and 50 skeet. Handicaps only apply for youth. 12-gauge shotguns are standard with a one target handicap for 20 gauge, a 1 1/2 target handicap for 28 gauge, and a two target handicap for 410 gauge. Shooters will be charged a $4.00 per round fee by the venue. Clays may be purchased at venue as well.

Awards


Individual

State Games Medal awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each event and each age group. Individual representative has to be present to receive award.

Team

Each individual on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team will be awarded a State Games Medal. Team representative has to be present to receive award.
