Format & Rules

Scratch Tournament This is a sanctioned USBC tournament. All participants must have a valid USBC membership card and present it before the first round begins. Non-members can purchase a card prior to the tournament to be eligible to participate in this event by going to and/or signing up the day of this event at on-site registration. Junior bowlers cannot sign up for a USBC membership at on-site registration. Singles

Age Divisions

Individual Divisions will be split by gender. Junior U8 U10 U12 U15 U17 U20 Adult 21-29 30-39 40-49 50-59 60-69 70-79 80 & Up Adapted

  • This event will have no divisions. All bowlers will receive a gold medal.
Team Divisions will be the same as Individual Divisions and placed in the Division of the oldest bowler. Teams may be made up of any gender. There will be separate Divisions for Juniors and Adults. Age Determination Date: August 1, 2020

There will be NO REFUNDS of entry fees because of rain or other acts of nature, or if an athlete or team fails to participate. Sports using outdoor sites are weather dependent. Competitions will be conducted unless State Games officials determine otherwise, or if the playing fields would incur significant damage. For more information about our FAQs, click here.

Awards & Qualifying

  • Alabama State Games gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category/division.
  • All bowlers in the Adapted division will receive a gold medal.
  • Scholarships will be awarded to all 1st-2nd place finishers in the Junior singles. The money will be submitted to the 1st-2nd place finishers' USBC SMART Account.
Bowling is a Medal Sport for the State Games of America (SGA) event. Those who medal in the 2020-2022 Alabama State Games Bowling tournament qualify to compete in the 2022 SGA, held July 27 - July 31 in Ames & Des Moines, Iowa. Participants in the Alabama State Games are responsible to check event format and age groups for all SGA qualifying sports offered at the Alabama State Games.
